In preparation for Chinese New Year, many families will start spring-cleaning and decorating their homes with ornamental florals. For plant parents, it’s also the best time to get new gardening accessories, reorganise their green corner and add new plant babies to their collection.

They do these by tradition of visiting established nurseries, which stock up during this period to cater to CNY shoppers. Nurseries now also have an online presence due to the pandemic.

This gives us two opportunities to reach out to plant parents to spread the message of dengue prevention over CNY 2022: physically at the nurseries, and through the nurseries’ social media pages.

In turn, we can help raise awareness of B-L-O-C-K among nurseries themselves, and serve reminders to both audiences (plant sellers and plant buyers) to play their respective parts in the fight against dengue.

To get the attention of plant lovers, we gave the names of popular plants an auspicious twist to send our CNY well wishes, alongside with the message of dengue prevention.

We disrupted the live sale segment of the popular nursery, Lai Seng Nursery to engage and educate our target audience in a fun and unexpected way with our quizzes, contest and 'uninvited guest'.

We carried on the conversation on our client's social media platform by creating more CNY, plants and dengue-related content to keep this topic fresh in the minds of our target audience.

We also turned other plant names into different auspicious chinese phrases like "Hoya Carnosa" to "好运", which means good luck, and "Golden Pothos" to  "福多", which means an abundance of good fortune on other collaterals like red packets and plant pot stickers. We then give away these items in to our target audience during our hijack of Lai Seng Nursery live sale via fun and engaging quizzes and games.

Social Media Engagements (Plant Recommendations and Spring Cleaning Tips)
We extended the conversation to social by getting KOLs whom are known in the plant community to share the recommendations of CNY plants to our target audience and giving them tips on how to spring clean their homes to get ready for a dust-and-mozzie-free new year.
